Device May be Cure for Jet Lag
As a student who is about to undergo severe jet lag at the beginning of January for the BMEN program, this device is of great interest to me. I wonder if the technologically advanced Germans will have these for us upon arrival :)
These so called "Green Light Glasses" are also referred to as "The Re-Timer." Scientists believe they have found the key to setting the body clock by emitting soft green light around the eyes to stimulate the area of the brain responsible for our circadian rhythms (suprachiasmatic nucleus). The leading professor on this project believes the could be helpful for a multitude of people including travelers who experience jet lag, people who suffer from shift work-disorder, work irregular hours, or those in the far North who do not receive enough sunlight in the winter. The designer of the glasses goes as far as to say that these glasses could help set teenagers sleep cycles to a more regular time and help them get up in the morning. According to researchers, this is the only device like this on the market.
