Alzheimer's Cognitive Function Improved With Brain Damage Drug
Alzheimer's disease, a familiar disease usually linked to the elderly, is the source of vigorous research and a dramatic breakthrough in modern medicine. Typically, research has been done to calm the enzymes down thought to be responsible for the damage neurotransmitters connected to learning and memories. As of now, researchers have found several (13) promising types of medications that actually act as a "recovering function" for Alzheimer's. One of the most promising methods, tested on lab mice, proved worth persuing and has called for a one million dollar research grant. If able to be tested further, this drug could potentially change the stakes of progressing Alzheimer's. Tests were injected directly into the mice's brain and given orally in a capsule. Both tests were proven to be as effective as the other. This conclusion sparked major interest and a great excitement for researchers.
The article caught my eye because neurological disorders interest me. The way simple malformations of the brain or miscommunications between neurons can harm the entire brain is very intriguing and worth researching. If the research is able to be persued, my hope is that people will be saved from this horrible disease. No person should have to die such a slow death with no hope. Promoting the researchers involoved can be our contribution to a cure and "recovering function".
