'Cancer-Causing' Chemical Used in Plastics and Food Containers can also Lead to Obesity and Diabetes

The two largest healthcare related concerns in the United States are obesity and cancer. Conventional wisdom points towards fast food as the primary cause of obesity in America; however, research regarding the link between both obesity and fast food found an underlying cause within the plastic the citizens of America use on a daily basis. The chemical, bisphenol A (BPA), can be found in a myriad of places from fertilizers to plastic bottles. After several series of experiments, researches discovered that BPA can essentially fool the human body into generating more fat. Moreover, this chemical also increases the production of insulin in the body. The body utilizes insulin to regulate the fat and carbohydrate intake. With excess insulin, the effects of insulin become less useful and can lead to weight loss and type 2 diabetes.

BPA affects the body by causing insulin resistance in the body. Since only a quarter of billionth of a gram of BPA can start a chemical reaction in the body leading to such effect, the demise may be unavoidable in our society dominated by plastic materials.

Not only is BPA a threat to hormone regulation but research by Dr. Nadal, a BPA expert at the Miguel Hernandez University in Spain, suggests there is a correlation between BPA and cancer, specifically, breast and prostrate. The primary reason for such contamination of the human body is that the endocrine disruptors of BPA resemble the structure of 17β-estradiol (E2). Excess BPA not only accelerates puberty due to excess E2, as recognized by the body, but it can also lead to sperm reduction, and eventually this dysregulation of the body leads to cancer and obesity.
