Is High-Fructose Corn Syrup Really Bad For Us??

There are these new commercials out that show a woman offering her boyfriend a popsicle and a mother pouring her child a glass of bright red punch. These commercials are funded by the Corn Refiner's Association to help spread the word that high-fructose corn syrup isn't all that bad. It's been instilled in our brains since childhood. Be sure to don't play with fire, don't talk to strangers, and DON'T under any circumstances eat anything that contains high-fructose corn syrup. According to the article, "High-fructose corn syrup is made from corn, has no artificial ingredients, has the same calories as sugar and is okay to eat in moderation." The main reason it gets a bad rap is because high-fructose corn syrup isn't found in nature and is in many of the foods we eat everyday. Like anything, eating something in moderation is fine but it's difficult to eat high-fructose corn syrup in moderation because it lurks in a lot of foods. There is no definitive link between obesity rates and the consumption of high-fructose corn syrup. I found this article interesting because I have seen the commercials on tv and I liked how it provided two sides to the story. We as consumers have to understand that we are in control of what we eat and we need to be aware of the hidden chemicals in our foods.
