Smart Knife Detects Cancer in Seconds

A new surgical knife has been discovered, called the "iKnife". The knife detects the smoke left behind when cutting through tissue. With this knife, doctors get results on if tissue is cancerous or not in only 1-3 days, as opposed to waiting weeks to get lab results back. The idea was found from electrosurgical knives used since the 1920s. The creators hope to make the "iKnife" work like a stop light, showing red when the cells are cancerous, green when they are clean, and yellow when there is a mix.

I was searching for an article to put up and cancer is one of the most interesting things to me. When I saw the title of the article it instantly caught my eye, mostly because it said something about an "iKnife". After reading the article I was even more intrigued and have been researching it for about 20 minutes now. The fact that technology can now do this is amazing and that is why I thought I'd share it.
