Health Effects of Energy Drinks on Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults

This article discusses the adverse effects of energy drinks. I chose this article because energy drinks are so prevalent among college students and are becoming more and more used by high school students and some even younger than that. This article demonstrates the possible physiological problems that can occur by consuming energy drinks.

The article states that caffeine causes coronary and cerebral vasoconstriction, relaxes smooth muscle, stimulates skeletal muscle, and reduces insulin sensitivity. These are all problems that are not to be taken lightly and can become life threatening.
